Easy Christmas Idea #2

Grammy's Birthday Handprint Shirt

I promised another Christmas idea and here it is.  I actually did this one for a birthday but can easily be done for Christmas, Mother’s day, Grandparents day, Birthday.  As you can see I am all about handprints and footprints.

Here is how I did it.  Plain white t-shirt, paint, both regular and then Dimensional Fabric paint.  Select the colors you want to make it in and then paint the child’s hands with that color and press down firmly.  Stagger the colors around and add as many or as few as you want.  Let the handprints dry and then write whatever you would like to say with the puff/dimensional paint over the top of the handprints.  You could also do footprints instead if you wanted.  Make sure that you place newspaper or cardboard inside the shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed through to the opposite side.  (Believe me I have learned my lesson)

Other ideas for shirts – use a sweatshirt and put all the names of grandkids on it and handprint for each, family shirt with all the names of just the kids in the family saying we love grandma/grammy.  Also don’t forget grandpa, he loves them too probably not pink though.  Try using his favorite baseball or football teams colors.

Grammy opening up her gift!

I love this because it is unique, personable and very inexpensive to make.  I guarantee that you will put a smile on a loved ones face and also no one else will have one like it!

What have you made that is unique for a family member or for a Christmas gift?  Have you done something with handprints or footprints that you can share?
