I never used a baby sling for my first baby. I had one baby carrier I used a handful of times for a few walks and out and about a couple of times. It was just very hard to get on and off quickly and most of the time it was easier to just carry him quickly and pray my arm didn’t fall off.
I always thought it was hard to go out and do things with one and then I started thinking about having two and I panicked a little. I decided to spend some of my shower gift cards on a baby sling this time. I figured a sling would be so much better than trying to carry a heavy car seat after having surgery and also being able to hold G’s hand too.
I have used my sling from the very beginning once we were out and about. and even now that he is almost one I still use it. I can tell when I forget it and have to carry him, how much it saves on my arms and back. Most of the time when he was younger putting him in it would calm him down and he would go to sleep. I love it for shopping, just carrying him from here to there, walks, church. It is easy to put on quick and easy to take off!
So if you are on the fence on whether or not to get one I would vote yes! Now that Evin is bigger I slide his legs through it and he sits in the deep pocket and he sits on my hip. He still has no problem with it and there have been several times he has almost fallen asleep! Hmm I wonder just how long I can use this thing. I am thinking until he at least starts walking. Mine is a Jelly Bean Munchkin that was fairly reasonable at Target.
Do you use a sling with your baby or did you? What is your favorite carrier or sling to use?
