I totally didn’t plan this little project it just popped in my mind the other day. My 5 year old was playing with water in a cup at the table and making a mess with a bowl of gold fish crumbs. I thought to myself if you want to play with water than I will let you play with water.
I got out a couple of glass dishes and filled them halfway up with water. Grabbed as many small little tools like measuring cups, spoons, small cups, spoons and laid it all on the table and they began to play.

I then had this brilliant idea of adding some food coloring. I never use it so this would be a perfect time. I added blue to one and green to the other one. They thought it was so cool. I was so impressed with myself. We were having fun and learning at the same time about colors. I then (looked up on my ipad quick color combinations) added another color to make it yet another color. We added red to the blue and made purple and added red to the green to make brown. The boys thought that was so cool.

They asked to do it again so I dumped it out and we started over. They stirred, poured, got a little wet, and poured back and forth from cup to cup. They had a great time!
Slight interruption in the fun when I hit a glass and it shattered on the floor and it broke all over the kitchen. I had a bad mommy moment and yelled at my kids to stay in their chairs! Was not a good few minutes. Even thought I broke my vacuum with glass. Thankfully it had just come unplugged, whew!
Back to our fun….We did another combination that I can’t remember and then we wiped up the water, changed a pair of wet shorts and we were good to go. They had a BLAST!!!

Other than getting a few towels wet cleaning up the water there was not much mess at all and water dries if we got it on the floor at all. They were begging to do it again right when we got done. I told them I needed to clean the towels first!
What fun impromptu thing have you done lately?
