My Life Is Changing – But It’s All Good

August 9th, 2013

About a month ago my husband and I sat down and realized that we needed to make some changes in our home.  With the ever increasing price of groceries and gas and and decline in what you bring home in paychecks we were starting to dig a hole.  We didn’t want that hole to keep getting bigger and bigger.  We just don’t want to put ourselves in the position.

We both agreed that I needed to try to find a job doing something, somewhere and probably would have to be evenings if I was going to continue to homeschool my boys.  I prayed a lot about this situation.  I didn’t feel led to leave my boys at all even in the evenings so I had to come up with something that would work.   I thought that maybe taking care of one or two babies in my home would be the answer.  The problem would be finding the right families.

I set to work putting the word out with friends and I immediately got a couple names.  I interviewed with a couple families and I will be watching two baby girls.  One is a newborn and the other one is five months old.  I will have to start referring to them as H & M.  I definitely want to keep their lives private.

Today I will be watching little M for a couple hours so we can get to know each other.  She starts coming on Tuesday and then tiny H starts about a week after that.  It isn’t going to be easy but I am thankful that my prayers were answered and I can stay home with my boys and help my family.  It feels good to be able to help these families with child care and at the same time be with my family and help supply the needs that we have. Along with this decision and life change I have had to say no to things I have previously done and not do as much as I have done in the past because I just won’t have the time.

So I will still be around just a little busier and I will probably have lots of questions as I help take care of these little princesses.  I’m glad that they each have a little playmate though.  It will be fun watching both of them grow up.  AND I already have a couple craft ideas to do with them as surprises for their parents so maybe these little ones will give me some inspiration too on some new ideas 🙂

How about you?  Did you have to start doing some sort of work to help your family?  What did you end up doing?
