Biting The Crib & Leaving Teeth Marks – My Personal Solution!

September 23rd, 2010

Do you ever have trouble with your little one biting on the side of your beautiful crib?  Well my second little guy has started to do just that, following in the footsteps of his big brother.  You definitely can’t go in every time they stand up on the crib and lay them back down.  (Believe me I tried that) They love to play games and they think it’s fun to have mommy come in and lay them down every 20 seconds! But  I didn’t want our nice crib to be marked with teeth marks.

Another use for a crib bumper

So what do you do with your crib bumper when your child starts to pull himself up and climb up on it?  You take it out of the crib never to be used again, right?!  I thought why not take it and put it on the top of the crib so little teeth can’t reach the wood anymore!  The bumper doesn’t totally go around the top because it is tied down but it reaches the main areas they can stand and reach and works like a charm!  It looks a little different but I think it is worth it to help stop the biting of the wood.  Simply just tie it down tight on the top instead of inside the crib.

I know there are crib protectors that you can buy that look better and fit nicely on the top edges, but who wants to pay a bunch of money when you can recycle and still get use out of the bumper that you paid so much money for!

Do you have trouble with your teething baby biting on things?  Have you caught your child sharpening their teeth on their crib?
