Handprint & Footprint Dish Towels – Great Gift Idea!

September 15th, 2010

Here is another great idea for Christmas!  This has become an annual gift for the grandparents in our lives.  It is fun for the kids to do and a personal gift that grandparents love to get and it is inexpensive.  I was talking about this with a friend today and thought it was worth reposting since Christmas is fast approaching.  I know that some times ideas for Christmas gifts can be stressful.

I keep my eye open for inexpensive dish towels and stock up when I can.  I found some nice blue and red towels in the dollar section at Target.  The one had hearts on them for Valentines day but a heart is perfect for a grandparent!  I think I have also seen some plain ones at Dollar Tree.  Walmart also carries some for a reasonable price. I try to stick to the plain white towels then I can add any color to it I want.

I have done them with hands only, and both hands and feet.  As my oldest gets bigger I have stayed away from doing his bigger feet.  Simply brush the color desired on the child’s hand (always hold their hand they will always try to put it down before you want them too) and then press firmly on the dish towel.  I then add the date and their name with a corresponding color!  Going on year number four of doing this and it is always a hit with the grandparents guaranteed!  A teacher would also love this gift or aunts and uncles too!  Everyone can always use another dish towel in their home so it is very practical and they wash well.

When I make new ones around Christmas I put those on the front of my stove and then the older ones get used.

What colors would you use if you were to make one? I think my favorite ones have been the blue towel with the white on it.  Of course I have always liked red, white & blue!
