I think a lot of people have trouble coming up with the perfect gift for people and relatives can be even harder sometimes. My father in-law had his birthday recently and I came up with the idea of a painted picture frame.
First I started with a simple wood 8×10 frame from Michaels it was just 4.99.
I also bought a 1.00 wooden baseball glove to glue on the side of the frame to add to it! My father in-law is a HUGE Red Sox fan.
I painted the entire frame blue
Then I painted the baseball glove a brown color and the baseball white. I added the extra features of the baseball and glove later.
The big trick was a getting a good picture of the two boys together. This was the best that I could get of them in their Boston Red Sox shirts. It is really hard to get them both to look and both to smile. Luckily the wagon has seat belts so they couldn’t get away at least!
Grandpa Stanton was thrilled with the finished product. I added the lines with a black fine sharpie and the red threads of the ball with red puff paint. The glove was glued on with a normal glue because I still don’t own a hot glue gun so hopefully it holds alright. The finished product cost me around 6.00 and I had Gavin color on white paper and we wrapped it up. I think this has been his favorite gift ever so far! He was all smiles
We thought about putting writing on it such as Boston or Red Sox but thought that the simple blue and baseball was enough.
Michaels has a lot of other different wooden items that you could add to a frame and personalize it for a loved one. Flowers, pets, sports! Lots of fun ideas for a child or a grown up. Have you done something like this before? What would you want on your picture frame and who would you want a picture of?
